My name is Jamal Osman - I’m your City Council Member in Ward 6 - and I am running for re-election to City Council because there's more work ahead to build a better Minneapolis.
I believe in fighting for a future where renters have stable rents and permanently affordable social housing, where workers’ rights are protected and they receive fair wages, and neighborhoods are safe and fully funded.
In my five years serving as your Ward 6 Council Member, I've come to understand that true leadership involves listening to a wide range of voices, discovering common ground, and taking collective action.
I am committed to continuing my efforts to bring people together - whether it's my fellow council members or my neighbors - so that we can work collaboratively to address the pressing issues that confront Ward 6 - and the City.
These include crucial matters such as rent control, affordable social and public housing, fair wages, union representation, and the challenges posed by drug addiction and encampments.
Together, we can make a difference in our community.

We need our Ward 6 neighbors to show up strong for Minneapolis DFL Caucus Night on Tuesday, April 8th at 7pm, so we can secure Councilmember Jamal Osman’s re-election endorsement.
Can’t attend? Even if you can’t attend in person, you can still support Jamal by completing the official “Nonattendee Form” before Saturday, April 5 at 6:59 pm.
Your information will be shared with the Minneapolis DFL and registered candidates seeking endorsement. Under Minnesota DFL rules, all online forms must be submitted at least 72 hours before the caucus, so this form automatically closes at 7:00 pm on April 5.
Caucus Night is Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 7:00 pm. Make sure your voice is counted to help re-elect Councilmember Jamal Osman!
