CM Jamal Osman Thanks DFL Ward 6 Volunteers - And Remains Hopeful After Problematic Caucus Adjourned

July 26, 2023 — Minneapolis, MN — On Tuesday, the Minneapolis DFL officially released a statement sharing that the Ward 6 Caucus (previously canceled twice):

"...has been adjourned 'sine die' [meaning “indefinitely”] and there is no endorsement from the Minneapolis DFL for that race. We appreciate the hard work of all the volunteers in Ward 6 and the rest of Minneapolis who gave selflessly of their time to run our endorsing conventions this year."

Council Member Jamal Osman, the Osman Volunteer Committee, and our Coalition of dedicated Caucus Delegates also wishes to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the hardworking Minneapolis DFL volunteers who poured their hearts into organizing the Ward 6 Caucus. This year has not been easy, but the unwavering dedication of our volunteers to our democratic process is truly inspiring, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed.

While our campaign is extremely disappointed that we were unable to secure the DFL endorsement this time around, we firmly believe that under more typical circumstances, a fair Caucus would have resulted in a victory for our campaign.

"This campaign is all about bringing people together - renters and workers across all neighborhoods in the Ward - and embracing the diversity that makes our community so dynamic. I am humbled and honored to receive the support of so many of my fellow Democrats, and with their support - and the backing of other Champions from across the Ward - we will continue to fight for the values that matter most to the residents," Council Member Osman remarked.

The recent Ward 6 Caucus presented unique challenges and was very problematic, but CM Osman and the campaign remains hopeful about the future - and our path to victory in November.

"While we faced unprecedented hurdles during the DFL caucus, I have full confidence in the strength of our community's support. Ward 6 residents know the dedication and passion with which I am committed to serving them, and that is why I am very optimistic about our chances moving forward," Council Member Osman stated.

And although the Minneapolis DFL has chosen not to endorse any candidate in the Ward 6 race, this campaign sees this as an opportunity to fully engage with our voters.

This past weekend, CM Osman and the volunteers were out door knocking in the Seward neighborhood - and we will continue visiting every neighborhood to listen and share our campaign's message on rent stabilization, workers’ rights and neighborhood investments.

Thanks to small donors all over the ward, we have the funding for a successful campaign - with multiple mailings and events planned to let the voters know about CM Jamal Osman’s record of success. Simply put, we can - and will - win thanks to our coalition of proud supporters - a coalition of Ward 6 Democrats fighting for real change.

As the incumbent, Council Member Jamal Osman is dedicated to representing the interests of his constituents and remains absolutely committed to uplifting renters, workers, and the diverse neighborhoods within Ward 6.

"We embrace the fact that the DFL party has left this decision to the voters - we've won two elections in Ward 6, and we believe that by staying committed to fighting for renters, workers, and neighborhoods, our coalition will win again. This election is an opportunity for our community to come together and make their voices heard. Our campaign will continue to be guided by the principles of progress and unity - as we strive to build a stronger, more inclusive Minneapolis," Council Member Osman emphasized.

As the campaign for re-election moves forward, Council Member Jamal Osman and his team are energized and ready to engage with the community. Knocking on doors and connecting directly with the residents of Ward 6 will remain a priority as they share their vision for a brighter future for all.

Please Rank #1 CM Jamal Osman for City Council - and let's Re-elect a Ward 6 Democrat Fighting for Renters, Workers and Neighborhoods!
